President Osmani: On International Women’s Day, I bow with respect to the women of Kosovo, the pillars of family and society

On International Women’s Day, I bow with respect to the women of Kosovo, the pillars of family and society. Thank you to the mothers, teachers, women leaders, who bravely paved the way, as well as to all the women who keep our society afloat each and every day: in education, healthcare, justice, business, science, culture, media, diplomacy and politics. Gratitude also to those who face challenges every day, as well as to the women who are no longer with us, but remain part of our history and freedom. I wish that the voice of women continues to be heard, their potential to be supported and their commitment to be appreciated! The future of Kosovo is as bright as the opportunities we give to women! Happy March 8th !

President Osmani: March 7th is the holiday of the spirit of our nation, which survived thanks to the Albanian language

March 7 is the holiday of the spirit of our nation, which survived thanks to the Albanian language. The Albanian school was an act of resistance, at home, in basements and in conditions of sacrifice. In times of persecution, Albanian teachers did not give up. They kept alive the language, the book and the dream of a nation that wanted to live free. From the first school benches to the universities, it is the same mission, to raise generations who love the language, the homeland and freedom. Therefore, March 7th is a day of gratitude and respect for every teacher who, through knowledge and dedication, educates generations and strengthens the foundations of the state. Happy March 7th to all teachers!

President Osmani’s address at the solemn session of the Assembly in honor of the KLA Epopee

Dear Uncle Rifat, Honorable Jashari family, Honorable Speaker of the Parliament, Ms. Haxhiu, Honorable Prime Minister of the Republic, Mr. Kurti, Members of the government cabinet, Honorable ministers and deputies, Former Presidents of the Republic, Honorable ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in our country, Families of martyrs, Associations emerging from the Kosovo Liberation Army war, Mayors of municipalities, Representatives of central and local institutions, Dear citizens of Kosovo, March, which in ancient mythology symbolized war and courage, was the month of confrontations, which determined the direction of our history. Precisely on March 5, 6 and 7th 1998, in the heart of Prekaz, our history took a new direction. Here, resistance, sacrifice, heroism and our future are in one place. On the ramparts of the towers in Prekaz, stood the Legendary Commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Adem Jashari, together with his entire family, choosing sacrifice over submission. They chose freedom over fear and above all they chose honor over life. In those three days, March became the month of Epopee and sacrifice, which revived an entire nation. The Jashari family became a fortress, while their towers became an eternal flag of our freedom. Today, when we remember March 5, 6 and 7th, we remember the moment when Kosovo decided not to live on its knees. Therefore, the three days of the epopee are a history written with resistance, to which we bow today and will continue to bow forever. 58 souls became light for a nation. In those days, the crack of guns was not just the sound of gunpowder, but a call for freedom. This was the cry that woke up Drenica, Kosovo, the entire nation, but also awakened the conscience of the entire world. The March Epopee is not only an emotional memory, it is a founding act of our Republic and a moment when the rifle of resistance became the political voice of a nation that sought its place in the world as a free nation. The avalanche of freedom began in Prekaz, which never stopped. A spirit began, which spread to every village and every city. An oath began, that this land would not be trampled. The epic is epic because it originated from the people, from the threshold of the towers in Prekaz. Such was the entire Kosovo Liberation Army, because it originated precisely from the people and the war it waged was not only just, but also necessary and we will defend it for as long as life lasts. Today, when we mention the name of Adem Jashari, the Legendary Commander, and the entire Jashari family, we have in mind the spirit and the call that reminds us that freedom is never a gift, but a sacrifice. The state is a responsibility and the flag that personifies it is a trust. The family of Adem Jashari is not only a symbol of sacrifice, but also of high state dignity. With noble silence and an unwavering stance, the Jashari family continues to be where history placed it, on the highest pedestal of sacrifice for the homeland. Honorable members of parliament, Honorable guests, The epic teaches us that when a people decides to live free, no force can stop it. The war of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the war of the Jasharis, was not just a battle of a people. It was also reflected and supported by our friends around the globe. The United States of America and our European allies and many other democratic countries, stood by Kosovo, giving us support during the most difficult moments. And it was precisely this support and solidarity, coupled with the sacrifice of the Kosovo Liberation Army, that made possible the new chapter of freedom and our state. But the epic is not over, it continues in every institution. In every soldier of the Kosovo Security Force, in every police officer who takes care of our security every day, in the teachers who educate this generation, in our doctors, and above all in every citizen who works honestly. Whenever someone doubts the strength of this nation, it is enough to mention one name: Adem Jashari and the Jashari family. They fell so that an entire nation could rise. We are eternally grateful to the entire Jashari family and to all the men and women of the KLA, who served the homeland and fell for its freedom. With the memory of our heroes and past, with the memory of all the martyrs who fell and sacrificed for our freedom, we affirm the future. Kosovo has learned that freedom requires vision, determination and continuous protection. Each of our citizens is a partner in this national project. Every right and wise decision strengthens the foundations of our state. Therefore, we have a national and moral obligation to transform our historical memory into a political and developmental vision. In a strong Kosovo, where strategic decision-making and institutional integrity ensure the prosperity of generations that come after us. This is the legacy of the KLA Epopee. Let us continue to strengthen the state for which they gave their lives, the state where national memory serves as a guide to a clear, just and visionary future. May God bless the Jashari family, the most emblematic symbol of our state and nation! May God bless all the KLA falen and all the martyrs! May God bless the Republic of Kosovo! Thank you!

President Vjosa Osmani address at the KSF parade, “Adem Jashari” Barracks in Prishtina

Dear Uncle Rifat, Dear Jashari family, Honourable Speaker of the Assembly, Mrs. Haxhiu, Honourable Prime Minister Kurti and the government cabinet, Honourable former presidents, Honorable officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Kosovo Security Force, Families of heroes, martyrs and martyrs of freedom, Veterans and invalids of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Mayors of municipalities, Honorable diplomats and military personnel of friendly countries, Honourable Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Lieutenant General Commander Jashari, Honourable participants, All you dear children of various schools from all around Kosovo, On this land sanctified by sacrifice, under the flag that was raised on the blood of martyrs and in the barracks that bears the immortal name of the Legendary Commander Adem Jashari, we have gathered today for an act of honour that transcends time. In this grand manifestation for the Epic of the KLA and the Day of the Barracks “Adem Jashari”, we recall the price of freedom and the oath, which was made so that we today can live freely and with dignity. On this land, which once trembled from the sound of the weapons of freedom, today the “Adem Jashari” Barrack stands proudly, a name that is not simply the name of an institution, but is above all a legacy. It is an eternal commemoration of a figure who has become a symbol of national eternity, the Legendary Commander, Adem Jashari and the entire Jashari family. They did not choose the easy path, but chose sacrifice, confrontation and above all eternity. In Prekaz, the Legendary Commander Adem Jashari and his family transformed their home into a fortress of resistance and their blood into the seal of our freedom and independence. The Jashari family is an altar of national freedom and the pride of every Albanian. The Kosovo Liberation Army was the voice of an oppressed nation. It was the organization of courage and hope that rose up against injustice. It was the national conscience that refused to be silent. The epopee of March ’98 is proof that freedom is won with sacrifice, with unity, with faith in our right to live freely in our centuries-old homes. Today, our pride does not rest only in the past, it marches before us in a modern uniform, with high professionalism and with unwavering commitment to our Republic. The Kosovo Security Force is a worthy heir to the KLA. It carries the ideal of freedom in its heart and holds the responsibility of the country’s security in its hands. Trained according to the highest international standards, equipped with modern capacities and professionally prepared troops, the KSF is today ready for any challenge. The KSF is not only capable of defending the homeland at all times, but is also prepared to contribute to international missions of global peace and security. Today, when we commemorate the KLA Epopee, we are strengthening the vision for the future. A future where Kosovo is safe, sovereignty is defended in every inch, is integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures, with a professional army and strong institutions. The “Adem Jashari” barracks is a symbol of historical continuity, from the rifle of freedom to the state uniform, from resistance to institutional protection and from sacrifice to state responsibility. Let us swear today, to the memory of the Legendary Commander and all the martyrs of the nation, to the memory of the entire Jashari family, that we will protect this state with the same dedication with which they won it by giving their lives. We will strengthen our army, we will deepen friendship with our allies. We will defend freedom at all times and in all circumstances, because our freedom has a history and a legacy. This is our beloved Kosovo, which we must constantly love, constantly protect and strengthen every day! Eternal glory to the Legendary Commander Adem Jashari and the Jashari family! May the memory of the heroes of the KLA and the martyrs of freedom be eternal! Long live the Republic of Kosovo! Thank you!
