President Osmani: The memory of the massacres is an obligation to never forget and to seek justice

A day after the start of NATO airstrikes against the Serbian genocidal machine, the Belgrade regime reacted with cruelty towards civilians in Kosovo. In Celina, Fortesa and Brestoc in Rahovec, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime massacred 75 civilians in Celina, 69 in Fortesa and 49 in Brestoc. Five KLA fighters also fell in defense of civilians, becoming an eternal part of our history of resistance and sacrifice. In the face of this inhuman violence, the resistance for freedom only became stronger. The memory of these massacres is an obligation to never forget and to seek justice without stopping. May the memory of the martyrs and those who sacrificed themselves for freedom be eternal!

Today, with honor and humility, we remember the 28th anniversary of the Dukagjini Epopee, one of the most glorious chapters of our fight for freedom. On March 24, 1998, in Gllogjan, the Kosovo Liberation Army waged a frontal battle in this area, courageously confronting the forces of the genocidal regime of Serbia, which had surrounded the village and in particular the Haradinaj family, which became a symbol of resistance and sacrifice for freedom. On that glorious day, the martyrs Himë Haradinaj, Gazmend and Agron Mehmetaj fell for freedom, becoming eternally part of our national history. The Dukagjini Epopee is a remembrance and testament of sacrifice, courage and determination for freedom. It remains a permanent inspiration for generations to preserve and strengthen the state, built on the blood of martyrs. Eternal glory to all those who fell for freedom!

Her visit to Kosovo in 1999 and her return to Prishtina two decades later, when she described the intervention as just, testify to her unwavering commitment to the just cause of our people. Her bust in the heart of our capital stands as a permanent reminder of the historic role she played in our journey to freedom.
