The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has responded to the letter received from Mr. Avni Dehari, Chairman of the constitutive session of the 9th Legislature. President Osmani wrote: The Constitution obliges me to guarantee the constitutional functioning of the institutions. Therefore, in this spirit, today I have responded to the letter received from Mr. Avni Dehari, Chairman of the constitutive session of the 9th Legislature. The Constitutional Court adjudications have already determined the obligation of all members of the Assembly to implement, and not block, the formation of institutions, as well as to find a way forward for the constitution of the Assembly. Let the interest of the Republic of Kosovo be the supreme guide in this process.

At this farewell meeting, President Osmani thanked Ambassador De Riu for his valuable contribution during his tenure in Kosovo and highly appreciated his engagements in strengthening of relations between the two countries. madam President wished him further success in his future diplomatic engagements, emphasizing that the friendship and partnership between Kosovo and Italy will always remain stable and based on shared values. President Osmani emphasized that Italy’s support remains essential for Kosovo on its journey towards Euro-Atlantic integration. She underlined the need for further engagement of Italy as a strategic partner, especially in strengthening Kosovo’s position in the international arena.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the credentials of the new Ambassador of Montenegro to the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Bernard Çobaj. Wishing him a welcome and success in his new tenure, President Osmani emphasized the importance of good neighborly relations between Kosovo and Montenegro built on mutual respect and cooperation. Madam President appreciated Montenegro’s support to Kosovo during important periods, underlining the importance of further expansion of cooperation in areas of common interest. President Osmani reiterated the commitment of Kosovo’s institutions to deepen cooperation with Montenegro in the spirit of good neighborliness, regional stability, and Euro-Atlantic integration. She expressed her belief that during Ambassador Çobaj’s tenure, new opportunities for cooperation will open up, further strengthening ties between the two countries.
President Osmani received the Ambassador of Japan, Kiminori Iwama
The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the Ambassador of Japan to Kosovo, Mr. Kiminori Iwama. Recent developments in the region and security challenges were discussed at the meeting, with President Osmani thanking Japan for its support in promotion of peace and stability in the Western Balkans. President Osmani highly appreciated Japan’s continued multifaceted support through the JICA agency. In this context, Madam President informed Ambassador Iwama with the bilateral visit to Japan, planned for June, as well as the participation in EXPO 2025 in Osaka, within the framework of this visit. Madam President also emphasized that this visit will coincide with Kosovo Liberation Day on June 12, offering a special opportunity to promote Kosovo and strengthen ties between the two countries. President Osmani further underlined the importance of expansion of cooperation in the fields of economy, education and cultural exchanges, mentioning the positive impact of Japanese scholarships and programs aimed at Kosovo’s youth.

On April 15th and 16th 1999, in Sllovi, Lipjan, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime committed one of the most horrific crimes of the war in Kosovo. 45 Albanians were killed and brutally massacred, while many others were injured, simply because they were Albanians. We commemorate with utmost respect the innocent lives that were lost during those days. Their memory is a call for justice. Eternal glory to the martyrs of Sllovi!

President Osmani commemorates the anniversary of the massacre in the Kovaçët neighborhood in Mitrovica
On April 14th 1999, Serbian paramilitary forces brutally massacred 31 residents of the Kovaçët neighborhood in Mitrovica. They were killed simply because they were Albanians. They were massacred in their homes and streets, in their neighborhood, where they should have felt safe. These men, women and children will always be remembered. The memory of them is a moral obligation and a commitment to truth and justice. Such crimes are not forgotten, and justice for them remains our constant goal.
