Clarification of the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo

Following several articles of the media in Kosovo on the participation of the President of the Republic of Kosovo at the Viennese Ball organized by the Austrian Embassy in Prishtina and the nonparticipation in the marking of the anniversary of missing persons on 27 April, the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo gives this clarification:

Within the agenda of the activities of the President of Kosovo for Friday, April 27, 2012, the Protocol of the Office of the President in time has announced the organizers of the Remembrance Day of the Missing, that the President can not attend the commemoration and the placing of the foundation stone at the Memorial Complex in Meja.

Also on time also the KSF was also informed that the President could not take part in the field exercise “Eagle 1”.

The public opinion already knows that in organization of the Austrian Embassy in Kosovo, on 27 April in the evening, in the Prishtina “the Viennese Ball” was held for the first time, a traditional Austrian event with humanitarian and charitable purposes. In the context of this event special funds are collected for the Pediatric Clinic of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, for the children of Kosovo. The participation of the President of the Republic of Kosovo in this event, where dress code was set, has had entirely humanitarian and charitable purposes and as such has helped to collect funds designated for humanitarian purposes.

The Office of the President of Kosovo explains that it is the right of the media to comment the daily agenda and program of the President and to draw conclusions at which event the President should have been or where she should have not been and what messages were given or should have been given .. . and this interest has followed the President on almost each activity of hers in the country and abroad.

The Office of the President clarifies that the President of the Republic of Kosovo, has had the issue of missing persons, as a very painful and primary treatment, on her agenda since the beginning of her mandate and she was in Meja and in Gjakova last year and she has raised it in many meetings with international representatives domestically and internationally.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo has met in her office delegations of associations of family members of the missing persons, and the delegation “Mothers Call” in an attempt to find ways to resolve the fate of the missing, while this week another meeting is scheduled, and this issue continues to remain one of the major commitments for the President of the Republic of Kosovo.
