Language, literature and culture are important stones in the life of nations. For this reason, President Osmani awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit to many authors and artists, starting with the bard of Albanian letters and the great inspirer of the Albanian national renaissance Jeronim de Rada and the outstanding Arbëresh poet Zef Serembe, to the classics of our literature Mitrush Kuteli and Lasgush Poradeci, but also later writers such as Hajro Ulqinaku, Beqir Musliu and Xhevdet Bajraj.
We also honored our ethnologists, such as Mark Tirta, but also the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo and the Museum of Kosovo, who have researched, documented and exhibited our cultural heritage, creating windows that allow us to better understand and appreciate our historical and cultural roots. Madam President also awarded the medal to the actresses Melihate Qena, Shpresa Gashi, Drita Rudi, the ensemble “Kastiotët”, Fatmira Brecani, the rhapsodes Riza Bllaca, Salih and Feriz Krasniqi and Sali Mani, Te Bijtë e Sefës, the Arbëresh Antonio Belushi Agostino Giordano and the researcher of Arbëresh culture, Ornela Radovicka, as well as the Arbëresh folklore group “Shqiponjat”.
