The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, said that this date marks 27 years since the forcible disappearance of Prof. Ukshin Hoti, the intellectual of the Republic, political thinker and activist of the national issue.
“Ukshin Hoti was among the clearest voices of Albanian political thought, who articulated the demand for the Republic of Kosovo with knowledge, courage and unwavering conviction. For this, he was imprisoned several times by the Yugoslav and Serbian regimes,” said Acting President Haxhiu.
She further stated that on May 16th, 1999, after being released from Dubrava prison, he was forcibly disappeared by the Serbian state apparatus.
“While the fate of Ukshin Hoti is not brought to light, justice for the forcibly disappeared remains undone. The truth about him is an obligation to his family, to history, and to the Republic that he conceived before it became a state,” emphasized Acting President Haxhiu.
