The Golden Medal of Peace, Democracy and Humanism – Dr. Ibrahim Rugova awarded to Vaslav Havel

Dr. Ibrahim Rugova’s Golden Medal of Peace, Democracy and Humanism was bestowed today upon the former President of Czech Republic, the famous erudite and statesman Vaslav Havel.

Mr. Havel is the first personality to receive this medal, which was established by The President of Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu.

Expressing his highest consideration for the enormous contribution that Mr. Havel has provided to freedom, democracy and humanism in his country and worldwide and wishing him good health and luck at the commemoration academy today marking the fourth anniversary of the death of Kosovo’s Historic Dr. Ibrahim Rugova today, President Sejdiu handed over the Medal to Mrs. Janina Hrebickova.

Ambassador Hrebickova declared she was honored to receive, on behalf of the former Czech President, the medal which is being awarded for the first time and which bears the name of a very distinguished personality, Dr.Ibrahim Rugova.

Having thanked President Sejdiu for the Medal, Ambassador Hrebickova received the medal on behalf of President Havel and read the letter that President Havel, having been unable to attend the ceremony in person, had written to President Sejdiu.
