Brussels, February 08 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, was received today in separate meetings by the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and by the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani.
At these meetings, President Thaçi spoke about the latest developments in Kosovo and stressed the need for the strategic engagement of the EU in Kosovo and the Western Balkans.
“We are committed to our European future and we have made significant steps since the signing of the SAA, but the process of integration into the EU should be accelerated with concrete actions, because delays only damage the credibility of the EU and weaken the support of the citizens of Kosovo for this process”, said President Thaçi.
“It is essential for Kosovo, for the region, that the European Union remains committed to the Western Balkans and this commitment to be political and geostrategic”, added President Thaçi.
Despite the current challenges of the EU related to the issue of the refugees and expansion, in these two meetings it has been confirmed that the future of Western Balkans is in the European Union.
