Prishtina, July 5th 2019 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today Congressman Eliot Engel, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, accompanied by Mrs. Engel and his colleagues, and he thanked him for his continuous support to Kosovo.
“I am grateful to for your decades long personal engagement on Kosovo, and for the Albanian nation in general,” said President Thaçi.
President Thaçi expressed his pleasure, in the presence of Congressman Engel and Ambassador Kosnett, for the inauguration of the new US Embassy building, and compared this moment with the opening of the US Office in Kosovo in 1996.
“It is impressive, when we remember where were we in 1996 and where we are today,” said President Thaçi, and added that “for this we are grateful to the United States of America, to all of our friends, who have supported us through all these years”.
Congressman Engel expressed his pleasure to be in Kosovo again, especially for being part of the 4th of July celebrations together with the inauguration of the new American Embassy.
Engel pointed out the great progress which Kosovo has achieved since independence and expressed his hope that Kosovo will continue to progress on its path to prosperity, democracy and the rule of law.
President Thaçi called upon Congressman Engel to engage in the US remaining focused on the Kosovo issue, until the full conclusion of the Kosovo story, and full international consolidation of the country.
