Prishtina, June 3rd 2019 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the diplomatic advisors of the President Macron and Chancellor Merkel.
President Thaçi wished them a warm welcome and praised the Franco-German engagements for the Paris meeting between the representatives of the state of Kosovo and state of Serbia, as well as the endeavours made by President Macron and Chancellor Merkel to reconvene the dialogue process under the European Union leadership.
President Thaçi accentuated that “dialogue should continue without any conditions and that tariffs should remain in force.”
Also, Mr. President stated that “Kosovo will not accept additional criteria on visa liberalisation, especially not in the format of requirements on tariffs or association.”
President Thaçi asked that citizens of Kosovo are not kept unjustly isolated and must not be treated as second class citizens.
At the end, President Thaçi said that Kosovo remains dedicated to the dialogue which must end with a comprehensive peace agreement, and which will result in mutual agreement between Kosovo and Serbia as well as the Kosovo’s membership in United Nations.
