Prishtina, August 24 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi received today in a farewell meeting the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Samuel Žbogar.
On this occasion, President Thaçi stressed that for the past four and a half years he has had a very close cooperation with Mr. Žbogar and the EU office.
“The role of the European Union in Kosovo is irreplaceable, because our purpose, goal and vision is also to be in the near future part of the European Union”, said Thaçi.
He added that Kosovo is on the good path to fully implement all the criteria and democratic standards necessary for this integration process, in particular the reforms in the democratic system, reforms in the judicial system, the rule of law and the free economy system.
According to him, on September 1st the additional criteria for visa liberalization, the ratification of the agreement with Montenegro will be concluded successfully.
On the other hand, the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Samuel Žbogar thanked President Thaçi for having had good cooperation with him while he was Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, now President. According to him, during this period there have been positive changes in Kosovo, despite the challenges awaiting Kosovo in the future.
