Prishtina, 26 July – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has convened today the Consultative Council for Communities, which held the general meeting. On this occasion, President Thaçi said that a large part of his engagement he dedicates to the promotion and enhancment of the internal dialogue among all communities in Kosovo.
“The Consultative Council for Communities and the meeting with you is one of the best opportunities to promote this dialogue”, he added.
The President has emphasized that the Consultative Council for Communities is a valid forum that articulates the aspirations but also the concerns of Kosovo's communities, as well as seeks for solutions for all of these.
“I assure you that you will continue to have the support of the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo in your engagement. We are also grateful for your cooperation with the cabinet. I assure you that as a president I will engage in addressing every need and concern you have. Therefore, I encourage you to continue to contribute to the cooperation between us”, he added.
President Thaçi said that solutions to the problems of communities should come from the communities themselves, whereas the institutions should support them. According to him, it is important that these solutions be conveyed to the political leaders and governing institutions that will realize them.
He reiterated that Kosovo is home to all of its citizens, regardless of their ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation.
“Moreover, we are a state that undertakes affirmative policies to promote the rights of non-majority communities and to guarantee equal rights and opportunities for all. For this I engage personally, and the institution I lead”, he said.
The President has emphasized that we want a Kosovo in which everyone will feel equal, in which everyone, regardless of their affiliation, will live with dignity and prosperity.
