President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi met today with a delegation of senior officials of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), stressing that Kosovo deserves to join the big European and world football families soon.
President Thaçi hosted the delegation composed of Şenes Erzik, the UEFA, Peter Gilliéron, member of the UEFA Executive Committee, Thierry Favre, the UEFA Head of National Associations Development, and Luca Nicola, FIFA Manager of Member Associations.
President Thaçi thanked the guests for the visit and the continued support given to the Kosovan state in its aspirations to join the UEFA and FIFA.
“Kosovo wants and deserves to join the UEFA and FIFA soon. We have talents worldwide eager to defend the color of Kosovo” President Thaçi said, adding that, this year, Kosovo marks its historic debut at the Olympic Games.
On the other hand, senior UEFA and FIFA officials said that these institutions are inspecting the situation in Kosovo’s football and expressed their satisfaction with the investments in sports infrastructure.
