Prishtina , May 8th, 2018 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, upon an invitation by the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Angela Merkel, travelled today to Berlin, on an official visit.
At the German capital, president Thaçi will be received tomorrow by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, for a bilateral meeting during which various issues of common interest will be discussed.
Opportunities for expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two states, deepening of economic exchange as well as cooperation in other relevant fields, will also be part of discussions.
President Thaçi will also be asking for Chancellor Merkel’s support in strengthening of Kosovo’s international subjectivity, further acceleration of Kosovo’s European perspective and the continuation of its support to the end stage of the dialogue process on normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
While tonight, in front of state representatives, senior diplomats and representatives of the civil society and media representatives, President Thaçi is expected to hold a keynote address at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
He will also be discussing with the participants the future of the relations between Kosovo and European Union. One of the panellists will also be the former German ambassador, Wolfgang Ischinger.
During his stay in Berlin, President Thaçi is also expected to hold a number of meetings with the representatives of various German institutions, in order to advance Kosovo’s bilateral and European agenda.
