President of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the KSF procession ceremony at the “Adem Jashari” barrack in Prishtina, organised as part of the “KLA Epopee” manifestation.
President Thaçi said that today we are in front of the Kosovo army, at the” Adem Jashari” barrack, in order to honour the Kosovo Liberation Army Epopee.
“The name of your barracks is the name of freedom, independence and sovereignty of Kosovo. It is the Kosovo itself,” said the president.
He further added that today, the highest institutions of the state honour the greatest heroism and sacrifice in our national history
“We honour the family members of the Shaban Jashari’s family: men, women, girls, boys, children, nephews and nieces. We honour the legendary commander Adem Jashari, Hamza, and all those fallen on March 5th 6th and 7th of 1998 in historic Prekaz, “said President Thaçi.
The head of state said that the heroism and the sacrifice of the Jashari’s awakened the Albanian conscience.
“The heroism of the Jashari’s mobilised the Albanian world in Kosovo, in Macedonia, in Presheva valley, in Montenegro, in Albania and in the diaspora. The heroism of Jashari’s and their titanic war set in motion the whole international diplomacy on Kosovo. Therefore, the Albanian world with great respect and honour bows at the legendary Prekaz,” said President Thaçi.
The head of state also said that every time on the KLA Epopee days we remember the price of freedom of Kosovo and by this we gain energy for the future.
“With greatest respect we remember the sacrifice of thousands of martyrs and we remember our citizens fallen for the liberation. We remember the wounds of the veterans and of all the soldiers who fell for the freedom and impendence of Kosovo,” pointed out the President.
To the KSF soldiers, President Thaçi said that they are the successors of the most successful political and military projects of the Albanian nation, Kosovo Liberation Army; this sacred project,
“With the heroic KLA war, with the support of the citizens of Kosovo and of the democratic world, Kosovo was liberated and became a free, democratic and independent state. Kosovo successfully passed the transition stage. For 12 years of independence we marked exceptional achievements, as no other country of the world did in its first 12 years of independence. Achievements which have been pointed out by the citizens of Kosovo and by our international friends. We became consolidated as a state in both internal and international plains. Kosovo is a success story. Each citizen must feel at ease with their own contribution and must feel pride in country’s freedom and independence, as we are a country of peace, stability and we are a country of best messages for everyone” added President Thaçi.
He also said that Kosovo sees clearly its path ahead, the just path, the Euro-Atlantic path.
“Kosovo will be eternally grateful to the democratic countries of the world which helped it at the most difficult times. Appreciative for the great contribution of the United States of America and NATO,” said President Thaçi.
President of the country also said to the KSF soldiers that the citizens and our state are proud of you.
“We are proud with your results and with your readiness to serve anywhere it’s needed, at every corner of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, in all peace and humanitarian mission around the world. The military discipline, high ethics and professionalism is noticed all around Kosovo. You are the institution which enjoys the highest civic respect and have the trust of the democratic world. You are thus rising as a trustworthy power in the eyes of the world,” said President Thaçi.
“You are a modern army, a contemporary one, a multi-ethnic army. You will be supplied with the most modern equipment and this was also my message and discussion in Pentagon, few days ago, on strengthening and equipping the Kosovo army, with most modern equipment possessed by any army in our region,” added the President.
President Thaçi at the end said that Kosovo has come out from a bitter war, where Serbia perpetrated genocide, ethnic cleansing, many massacres, but today Kosovo is a free and independent country.
