The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, currently on an official visit to
Bulgaria, was received today by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bulgaria,
Vezhdi Rashidov.
At the meeting with Speaker Rashidov, President Osmani thanked Bulgaria for its support provided to Kosovo, asking that this support for Kosovo in the international arena continues to take place.
President Osmani also asked for Bulgaria's support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe as well as in other international organizations.
According to President Osmani, cooperation in the sphere of parliamentary and inter-parliamentary diplomacy is important.
A part of the meeting was devoted to the current situation in Kosovo and beyond. President Osmani emphasized that it is important that the decision on visa liberalization is reached during the Czech presidency of the EU. As far as the dialogue with Serbia is concerned, she reiterated that it should focus on mutual recognition. According to her, Kosovo is a constructive party in this process, as opposed to Serbia which, through using the illegal structures in the north is trying to destabilize Kosovo.
In relation to Russia's aggression on Ukraine, President Osmani has emphasized that she appreciates Bulgaria's full harmonization with NATO and EU positions on Ukraine, including the provision of military support. According to President Osmani, Kosovo has unequivocally condemned Putin's unprovoked attack on Ukraine and that it is in line with the EU and the USA regarding the sanctions imposed on Russia.
