The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani signed today the amendment 2 of the Development Objectives Grant Agreement with the United States of America, through which the Republic of Kosovo benefits an additional 3.8 million dollars.
This agreement was originally signed in November 2020, through which agreement Republic of Kosovo received $ 33 million from USAID. Amendment 1 of the agreement was signed in May of this year, which provides the Republic of Kosovo with additional financial means to the amount of 1.6 million US dollars. Whereas today, via amendment 2 of this agreement, the Republic of Kosovo benefits an additional $ 3.8 million, increasing the total value of the agreement to $ 38.4 million.
This agreement aims towards better service for citizens through accountable and effective governance institutions, as well as an increase in opportunities for inclusive democratic and economic participation. The first development objective of the agreement focuses on the oversight of institutions by citizens and civil society, while the second adopts a broader approach to democratic participation.
It aims for improvement and cooperation between citizens, civil society, businesses and the public sector in order for local communities to have a more favourable position in addressing Kosovo’s development challenges.
President Osmani thanked the new USAID Director in Kosovo Mrs. Zeinah Salah for support and at the same time congratulated her on her new tenure.
Ms. Osmani emphasized the importance of USAID's engagement in the Republic of Kosovo in the development of society as well as the strong US support to the Republic of Kosovo.
