Kosovo President, Vjosa Osmani, received today in a meeting the former head of the “Saint Eugidio” community, currently the President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, and at the same time Chancellor of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, and the former Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mario Giro, with whom she discussed Kosovo's relations with the Holy See and its institutions.
President Osmani expressed Kosovo’s gratitude for the contribution that Mr. Paglia has given to the Kosovo people, starting from the 90s up to the present day.
“Kosova”, stated President Osmani, “considers Monsignor Paglia a longstanding friend and highly appreciates his and the “St. Eugidio” community’s continuous contribution to the Kosovo people”.
The President emphasized that relations with the Vatican are longstanding and that the values promoted by the Holy See, such as freedom, peace and harmony between people, are principles that our people have cultivated historically.
Likewise, the President emphasized that the further deepening of cooperation with the pontifical departments and institutions, such as the Pontifical Academy for Life, can help in the further promotion of such values.
According to President Osmani, Kosovo is a country of coexistence of different religions, in which dialogue and mutual communication are very important values.
Meanwhile, Monsignor Paglia thanked the President for the reception and emphasized that for him and the “St. Eugidio” community, Kosovo continues to remain very important.
