The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani during the second edition of the Forum on Women, Peace and Security, received the Minister for Social and Family Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Sofia Zacharaki
The agenda of the International Forum on Women, Peace and Security, which coincides with the time when peace and security are under attack in different parts of the world, while women and girls are at the center of violence, torture and inhumane treatment were discussed at the meeting.
President Osmani emphasized the need to increase the efforts needed to combat gender-based violence and support the survivors, including strengthening of the legal framework and provision of support services.
Furthermore, President Osmani stated the importance of increased political representation and women’s participation in decision-making processes at all levels of government.
“Economic empowerment of women, better access to education, health care and economic opportunities play a substantial role in improvement of the position of girls and women in society”, said President Osmani.
