The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today representatives of a group of non-governmental organizations active in the field of democracy, rule of law and institutional oversight.
The focus of this meeting was the failure to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo and the impact that this situation has on the functioning of democratic institutions and on the lives of citizens.
According to President Osmani, the delay in constitution of the Assembly damages not only the credibility of the institutions, but also the country’s progress towards its Euro-Atlantic agenda.
In this regard, Madam President reiterated her commitment to guarantee institutional functionality and to act in accordance with the Constitution, in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Osmani expressed her readiness to continue to remain open to dialogue with civil society, in order to preserve democratic order and strengthen the country’s representative institutions.
