The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today at a meeting the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and at the same time the Assistant Administrator of the UNDP, Mrs. Mirjana Spoljaric – Egger, whom she thanked for the support that this organization has given to Kosovo since 1999.
According to President Osmani, through this support, UNDP has contributed to increasing of the developmental perspective in the country and said that the pandemic has hit many women-led businesses. She stressed the need for greater inclusion of women in the labour market to realize the full potential for the economic development of a country. President Osmani added that Kosovo believes in the values ​​of the UN and its vision for sustainable development.
At the meeting with Mrs. Spoljaric- Egger President Osmani stressed that it is necessary to invest in human capital for sustainable development. According to her, the Sustainable Development Goals represent a guide to better well-being. The two interlocutors also discussed digital transformation, transition to green energy and innovative financing. In this regard, President Osmani stressed the need for significant funding to achieve a fair energy transition in Kosovo, which takes into account the increase of production capacity from renewable energy sources and affordable energy costs for citizens.
