The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today a group of MPs from Lithuania, led by the President of the Friendship Group, Laima Andrikienė.
At the meeting with Lithuanian MPs, President Osmani thanked them for their support to Kosovo and for the hospitality extended to her during her visit to Lithuania in May of this year.
The President informed the Lithuanian MPs with the general political situation and the reforms being implemented to strengthen democracy, the rule of law and human rights. Furthermore, President Osmani thanked Lithuania for its support to date and asked that this support continues for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, visa liberalization for Kosovo citizens, Kosovo's inclusion in the NATO Partnership for Peace program as well as support for candidate status in the European Union.
Regarding the dialogue process with Serbia, President Osmani emphasized that the Kosovar side is constructive in this dialogue and that dialogue should focus on mutual recognition.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, President Osmani reiterated that Kosovo stands on the side of the people of Ukraine and against the Russian. According to her, Kosovo has offered shelter to several journalists from this country and that the Russian aggression is an attempt to change the current world order.
Lithuanian MPs said that Kosovo will be given a special focus in the context of interest in the Western Balkans. They also said that they strongly support visa liberalization for Kosovo.
