President Osmani received a delegation of the Kosovo Midwives Association on the International Midwives Day

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the International Midwives Day, received a delegation of the Association of Midwives of Kosovo, led by its President, Ms. Magbule Elezi.

The Midwives Association informed President Osmani of the problems this profession is facing and mentioned in this context the lack of gynaecologists and maternities in smaller municipalities, which according to them is endangering the health of women, girls and children. 
 
They called for the acceleration of the process for the approval of the new Healthcare Law and cited the challenges in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. 
 
President Osmani pointed out that in cooperation with other institutions, will try to address the problems in this sector, particularly those related to the challenges of maternity hospitals in smaller localities.
 
Ms. Osmani said that mothers and children will receive the required treatment due to the work carried out by midwives and that she supports the requests for the improvement of their overall position. Furthermore, President Osmani stated that she will support the continuous professional development of midwives, as well as the increase of their number in healthcare institutions.
