President Osmani: Reçak was the starting point where our freedom began to take shape

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu participated at the opening of the exhibition laid on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Reçak Massacre.

President Osmani said that when we hear the horror stories, whether from the survivor, the family members but also from those who played a key role in documenting this terrible crime, we see in the eyes of each of them that even 23 years later they experience it as they have experienced that day when it happened because the massacres that were committed against our people have been so harrowing, so horrible that they go beyond the human imagination.

The head of the country said that it is always difficult to find the words to describe the horror that our people have experienced, while we were ruled by the Serbian genocidal regime.

“The  Reçak massacre, but also other massacres throughout Kosovo, and I reiterate again, have proved that that regime aimed to wipe us off the face of the earth. But, it was the great sacrifice of our people, the support of our friends who did not allow such a thing, and Reçak has been the starting point where our freedom began to take shape. Hence, the scent of freedom really began to be felt and led to one of the most important historical events in the world, not only in Kosovo,  the NATO intervention. “Because, this massacre did not awaken the conscience only of the people in Kosovo, but of the whole world”, said President Osmani.

These photos, according to the President are the documentation of this terrible crime, which was a crime against humanity, but also genocide against the people of Kosovo.

“I want to thank the authors who at that time risked their lives to tell the truth. As the people of Kosovo, we never say anything but the truth, and we will not stop telling the truth despite the fact that there are great efforts every day by Serbia and its supporters to deny the crime committed, and by denying the genocide committed they commit a double crime. Therefore, today we wanted to see together with all of you these photos of our authors that re-confirm all the experiences of our people ” emphasized the President.
