The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu received today at a meeting the NATO Deputy Secretary-General Mircea Geoană.
President Osmani highly praised Mr. Geoană's visit which underlined NATO's commitment to Kosovo, as well as to security, peace and stability in the region and Europe.
President Osmani congratulated Mr. Geoană for the successful NATO summit in Madrid, evaluating the transatlantic unity as crucial to protect the common values ​​of peace, democracy and freedom and to fight the malicious influence of Russia and its proxies in our region.
Deputy General Secretary Geoană thanked President Osmani for housing Afghan refugees and for Kosovo's support for the people of Ukraine, through the support of journalists, sanctions against Russia and the willingness to shelter Ukrainian refugees.
President Osmani reiterated Kosovo's gratitude for the continued presence of NATO in Kosovo, as well as for the readiness to welcome the countries of the Western Balkans which aspire NATO membership as confirmed in the recently approved NATO Strategic Concept. She also underlined Kosovo's clear will for membership in Euro-Atlantic structures with Kosovo's inclusion in the Partnership for Peace Program and membership in NATO.
