The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu received at a meeting the non-resident ambassador of Japan in Kosovo, Mr. Akira Mizutani.
The President thanked Ambassador Mizutani for the Japanese support to Kosovo to date, including the increase of the number of scholarships for Kosovar students awarded by the Japanese government, arising from discussions held during the President's visit to Tokyo last year.
“Kosovo and Japan share the same values and principles in international relations and world affairs and hence we expect wider cooperation in other spheres”, emphasized President Osmani.
Ambassador Mizutani praised the attitude of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo towards Russia's unprovoked war on Ukraine via sanctions against Russia, as well as the stoic attitude towards the Ukrainian people, stating that democracies must remain united.
In continuation of Japanese support, the Japanese organization JICA has donated a number of garbage collection trucks to the municipalities of Kosovo, as Japan through this organization continues to implement dozens of projects in the field of education and environment.
President Osmani asked for the continuation of support from Japan to the process of Kosovo's membership in international organizations.
