The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani alongside the institutional leaders of Kosovo and Albania attended the ceremony marking the 110th anniversary of Albania's independence held in Vlorë.
President Osmani, together with the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo Glauk Konjufca, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, President of Albania Bajram Begaj, Speaker of the Assembly of Albania Lindita Nikolla and Prime Minister Edi Rama, participated at the raising of the red and black flag and placed wreaths on the memorial grave of Ismail Qemali.
President Osmani considered Flag Day and the anniversary of Albania's independence to be sacred for all Albanians wherever they might be.
“The Act of the Declaration of Independence of Albania and Flag Day are among the most important events in the history of the Albanian people. “I am honored to be in Vlora today alongside the state and institutional leaders of Kosovo and Albania, to celebrate this sacred day for us,” said President Osmani.
According to her, patriots from Kosovo and Albania had an ideal.
“From Gjergj Kastrioti-Skënderbeu, Ismail Qemajli, Hasan Pristina and Isa Boletini, to the historical president Ibrahim Rugova and the legendary KLA commander Adem Jashari – we had a dream and an ideal. Today, Kosovo and Albania, together in Vlora commemorate on this 110th anniversary the men and women who made the project of our independent states possible”, said President Osmani, congratulating all Albanians on the Flag Day and on the Day of the Independence of Albania.
