President Osmani at the traditional lunch laid by the European Union High Representative Josep Borrell for the Western Balkan’s leaders

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, who is currently in New York where the 78th session of the United Nations Assembly is being held, participated at the lunch laid by the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Mr. Josep Borrell.

Regional cooperation and the acceleration of the European integration process for the countries of the Western Balkans were discussed at the meeting

President Osmani expressed the need to expedite the process and reach necessary decisions by the EU on the integration of Kosovo, giving it the candidate country status as well as the membership of the states of the region based on the fulfillment of the criteria.

President Osmani also emphasized that the EU measures towards Kosovo, in addition to not contributing to the advancement of the dialogue through the suspension of EU projects, mostly affect the interests and well-being of the citizens.

In this context, President Osmani said that Kosovo is a constructive party and committed to peace and stability, fully coordinated with the policies of the EU in terms of sanctions and important reform processes.

“The EU should reward the states that are coordinated with the EU and at the same time have undertaken reforms, especially in the rule of law, economy and European standards”, pointed out President Osmani.
