President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, assesses that the second round of the municipal elections held in 25 municipalities of Kosovo have shown the dedication of the citizens of the country towards building of a democratic society through free and fair vote all around the territory of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga congratulates the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo for their engagements for an electoral process which can serve as an example of proper organisation. She praises the participation of the citizens of the Serbian community, particularly members of this community residing in the north of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, as an expression of their will to integrate into the Kosovar society and its institutions, which will bring forward the continuation of democratic processes in the country.
Municipal elections, organised for the first time in the whole of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, have demonstrated a proper conduct of a process organised in its fullness by the institutions of the country, with satisfactory participation of the citizens on both voting rounds. The work of all mechanisms responsible for the organisation, proper conduct and security of the municipal elections process has resulted with a guarantee of the standards determined for honest, free, fair and democratic elections.
The vote of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo is a vote for the present and the morrow of the country, a vote which already habituates the unstoppable journey of European integration.
The test of the democratic maturity and of the society dedicated to building of a better future has been passed at the December 1st elections. These elections mark a step ahead of ours towards the integration of the country, of each citizen of the Republic of Kosovo into the institutions of the country, and they are the best proof of the fact that we can build the future together.
Conclusion of this electoral process, in a peaceful, democratic and dignified manner, will secure stability and peace for Kosovo, will help the progress and development of the citizens of the country and will further augment the Euro-Atlantic perspective of our country.
