President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, attended today the reception organized on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the declaration of the independence of Albania.
At an address delivered on this occasion, Madam President said:
Honorable representatives of the institutions of Kosovo,
Ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions in Kosovo,
Honorable Ambassador Minxhozi,
Honorable participants,
Not a single day is more special in the history of the Albanian nation than this Flag Day, which sublimes all the endeavors and the sacrifice of the people for its independence. No day is more marked in the history of the Albanian nation than this Holiday which brings all together, who feel the liberty and independence as the highest human value.
This is the day which has held alive the spirit and their dream of Albania and of Albanians to walk unhindered on the path of development and progress, in different times- however hard and challenging- with a single aim in mind, to become an inseparable part of the democratic values in the world.
And Albania’s independence has shown how important is the freedom of a nation and its inclusiveness in the progressive processes and for Europe in general.
This is also the Day which has for times immemorial held active not only the incarnation but also the ambition and aspiration of the people of Kosovo for freedom and independence, and for a more different future and a clear one- to together become an important part of the European family. Independent Albania made possible Kosovo s an independent and sovereign state- an unstoppable and irreversible reality, a guarantee of peace not only in the region, a place of equality and freedom and an example of cultural and religious diversity.
Both states have today become an inseparable part of the global security architecture and of the engagements of the democratic world to face the extremist challenges for the purpose of protection of human values- trust in one another and a life in togetherness.
Last century begun with the independence of Albania and ended with the freedom of Kosovo. This century finds us aligned together in the idea, ambition and engagement for European integration, as democracies which are built and mature day by day, despite challenges, and based in the foundations of the rule of law and order, where the freedoms of each citizen are respected, with responsibilities and obligations for the state, which guarantees their advanced future.
Felicitations Albania! God bless or two states.
