President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, visited today the Shtime municipality, one of the most touched municipalities by recent flooding.
President Jahjaga was initially received by the Mayor of this municipality, Mr. Naim Ismajli, who informed her with the overall situation after the heavy rainfall of last few days, which have caused considerable damage in many villages of Shtime municipality, as well as with the engagements of the municipal authorities to ensure the necessary help to the citizens to whom flooding has caused any sort of damage.
Later on, President Jahjaga visited the villages of Davidovc, Rashnicë and Muzeqinë, where she saw for herself the damage caused by flooding and spoke to the citizens whose property has been damaged by floods.
At a statement made on this occasion, President Jahjaga said:
I came to visit the Shtime municipality, and to together with the Mayor, be side by side with our citizens. I got detailed information from the mayor on the situation created by the heavy rains of these last few days, and the damage it has caused. I also spoke yesterday on the phone with the Mayor, as well as with mayors of other municipalities, such as Gjakova, Lipjan among others.
I also spoke with the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, in order to evaluate the level of readiness of the emergency and fast response sector by KSF, and in order to have a greater care for our citizens. This also shows a different message as well, as we must take greater care for our rivers and their river beds.
