The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, has visited today the Kosovo Police, where she was received with the highest honors from the Police Honor Guard and later met with the General Director Mr. Shpend Maxhuni and other heads of the Police.

President Jahjaga and the Police Director Maxhuni discussed about the work and the commitment of the Kosovo Police in maintaining the general order and security of the citizens.

The General Director of the Kosovo Police, Mr. Shpend Maxhuni informed President Jahjaga about the work, activities and challenges which the Kosovo Police faces.

He said that the members of the Kosovo Police are continuing their dedication to provide security for all citizens.

General Director Maxhuni stressed that the Kosovo Police is a professionalized institution and is performing its duties with commitment in the service of the citizens of the country. He said that even the recent operation of the arrestment of the persons suspected of terrorist activities has demonstrated the commitment of the Police to guarantee security in the country.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo said that her visit to the Kosovo Police is an institutional support for this very important safety mechanism for all the citizens of the country. She said that the Kosovo Police with its dedication and professionalism has ensured the support of all the citizens.

She said that the Kosovo Police as an inclusive institution is doing a great job in the maintenance of order and national security.

President Jahjaga said that the Kosovo institutions give support to the Kosovo Police in ensuring the constitutional order of the country.

President Jahjaga accompanied by General Director Maxhuni visited the Tapping Centre, the Directorate for International Cooperation in the field of law enforcement as well as the Operational Centre of the General Directorate.

After the visit, the President and the General Director provided press statements. We are publishing the full statement of President Jahjaga.

Today I have come to visit the Police of the Republic of Kosovo, to offer the support of the institutions for the work and commitment of all men and women of the most important mechanism of security, but at the same time to offer our unsparing support to this institution which offers and provides security for all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo throughout the country.

The Kosovo Police continues to be one of the institutions which have the respect and confidence of the citizens in general and this has been ongoing to the citizens of Kosovo and is a work in progress of this institution to continuously build the trust to all citizens.

The work of each member of the Police of the Republic of Kosovo in the provision of security to all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, has made that this level of credibility towards this institution to increase, but this credibility still requires a bigger backing and support by the institutions, but also by all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Kosovo Police has continued to build the public trust and this of course will continue to operate because we are oriented to build a functioning state, a state which guarantees the safety of each citizen because only so we will be proving the democratic functioning of our state and that the Kosovo Police is also built on the principle of inclusion within this institution itself.

The recent operation of the Kosovo Police against certain individuals suspected of terrorist acts has testified the coordination between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, but certainly it has testified the unwavering commitment of this institution to maintain and guarantee the national security of our state.
We are committed to ensure the freedom of each citizen of our state and justice functions for all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and whoever is not on this side, certainly will face law and order.
