President Jahjaga visited Mamusha, Dragash, Vitia and Ferizaj

As part of visits around the municipalities of Kosovo, President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, visited today the municipalities of Mamusha, Dragash, Vitia and Ferizaj.

As with visits to other municipalities, during today’s visit Madam President was also accompanies by the  Chairman of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Safet Gërxhaliu, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Arian Zeka, and Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Albert Matoshi,

Economic development, support to local and international businesses, creation of conveniences for businesses, property status, problems of local and central level taxes and number of other problems were discussed at the meetings with mayors of these four municipalities,

Mayors of Mamusha, Dragash, Vitia and Ferizaj, Mr. Arif Butuc, Mr. Salim Jenuzi, Mr. Sokol Haliti and Mr. Muharrem Sfarça, spoke about their experiences in dealing with businesses and challenges they face in this field.

At a statement made after the conclusion of today’s visits, President Jahjaga stated:

We had very intensive meetings with each mayor, together with the chairmen of three chambers of commerce. We discussed in detail about the overall situation in these municipalities, with emphasis on the economic agenda and achievements in economy of each municipality.

Challenges, problems and difficulties I heard about in these municipalities were the same as the ones we heard about during the visits of the last two days.

The aim of this initiative is to address in a direct manner these challenges, in order enable businesses and investors from both Kosovo and abroad to invest their capital in Kosovo, with the sole aim to generate new workplaces for citizens of Kosovo, especially for the youth; also it aims to improve the quality of life for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.

From all that we have seen during the last two days and today as well, I think that this is the last moment to find institutional solution to all these challenges, in both local and central levels, in order to guarantee a more sustainable economic development for our country and our citizens.

Chairman of the German Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Albert Matoshi, stated that visits undertaken during the last three days, together with President Jahjaga, were very successful, during which we got informed about the challenges and problems with which municipalities and business community is faced.

Matoshi also said that problems that municipalities are faced with are almost the same and are related to property problems, employment opportunities, strategic investment problems and similar, and added that there is an uncontested will of all mayors to help businesses in Kosovo , as well as potential investments from abroad.
