President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Political Director for European and International Affairs at the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Jan Kickert, with whom she discussed the actual political developments in the country.
President Jahjaga and Mr. Kickcert also discussed the democratic processes undergone by Kosovo, Kosovo’s convergence to EU after the conclusion of the negotiations for Stabilisation Association Agreement, important electoral processes concluded successfuly in Kosovo , both municipal and pre term general elections, which pave the way to the establishment of the new institutions of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga emphasized that Kosovo has marked considerable advances, particularly in the field of European integrations and stated the importance of the initialling of, during this month, of the SAA between Republic of Kosovo and EU, and creation of opportunities for free movement of citizens of Kosovo to EU countries, through the visa liberalisation process.
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is a factor of peace and stability in the region and promoter of good neighbourliness, which has been demonstrated via the dialogue process on normalisation of relations with the Republic of Serbia. She said that all agreements reached through the dialogue process must be implemented in practice, which would in turn help the free movement of the citizens in all parts of Kosovo, without any barricades.
Political Director of the Austrian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mr. Jan Kickert, emphasized the advancements of Kosovo on its European integrations agenda and its participation in regional initiatives. He also said that the path of European integrations is open to all the countries of western Balkans and emphasized the need for the continuation of the dialogue on the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
