President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Head of Mission, Mr. Jorge Baca Vaughan, Ms. Maria Manke, IOM regional representative for South-Eastern Europe and Mr. ValonHalimi, IOM emissary to the Office of the Prime Minister of Republic of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga, praising the IOM support to Kosovo from the end of war to date, stated the need for continuation of support provided by this organisation through its various programs carried out in Kosovo and in the region.
Speaking in relation to the latest developments and illegal migration of a number of Kosovar citizens to the EU countries, President Jahjaga emphasized the necessity for the engagement of all local and international organisations in prevention of illegal migration and preparation for their return from EU member countries. She also said that institutions of Kosovo must work on guaranteeing of the rule of law, which will enable economic development alongside with return of trust of citizens towards institutions of the country.
President Jahjaga also praised the role IOM has in provision of help to the local level institutions, as well as central level ones, in reintegration of all returning citizens.
IOM Head of Mission, Mr. Jorge Baca Vaughan, expressed the readiness to help institutions of Kosovo through the process of return from EU countries of all asylum seekers for Kosovo, via different programs related to creation of new work places, economic development, infrastructure, community support as well as through the voluntary return program of all citizens of Kosovo seeking asylum in the EU countries.
