President Jahjaga received the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Zbogar

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the EU Special Representative to Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Zbogar, who informed Madam President with the decision of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, to send an EU Monitoring Mission to observe the pre term general elections in the country.

Baroness Ashton’s decision comes as response to the letter sent by President Jahjaga requesting EU monitoring of the June 8th election, in order to ensure a democratic and correct process in whole of Kosovo.

Mr. Zbogar informed President Jahjaga that Baroness Ashton’s response states that an EU Mission, similar to the monitoring mission which observed the last year’s municipal elections, will be sent to Kosovo to observe the electoral process.

President Jahjaga welcomed the positive response by the EU High Representative, Baroness Ashton, upon the request for international observers, and stated that a regular and fair electoral process will help Kosovo on its integrational path. Madam President stated that pre term general elections in the country must be safe, fair, democratic and all inclusive, in which all citizens must have the opportunity to vote freely.
