President Jahjaga received Secretary Clinton’s Special Envoy for the Muslim community, Farah Pandith

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the Special Envoy of the Secretary of State, Madam Hillary Clinton, for the Muslim community, Mrs. Farah Pandith.

Madam Pandith was interested to know about the state of the human rights and freedoms in Kosovo, the status of women and the role of Kosovo in international relations.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, said that Kosovo has become a factor of peace and stability, which has increasingly larger impact in the international scene. President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo is a civic country, in which all people, regardless of nationality, religion or gender, have the equal rights and freedoms.

President Jahjaga informed Madam Pandith on the progress Kosovo is making in achieving gender equality, citing the quota as a minimum guarantee for the representation of women in all spheres of life and work and especially in the representative and decision-making institutions in Kosovo.

President Jahjaga thanked Mrs. Pandith for the constant support of the United States of America and the Secretary of State, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, as a proven friend of Kosovo and its people, for peace and stability in the region.

Mrs. Pandith stressed that Kosovo has made significant advancements and is becoming a good example of the factual role of women in society as well as for the progress and advancements made in the field of human rights and freedoms, by providing ongoing support and assistance of the United States of America in advancing these processes.
