President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the members of the Central Electoral Commission, lead by the CEC Chairwoman, Ms. Valdete Daka, with whom she discussed the preparations undertaken by the Commission for the pre term general elections in the country, due to be held on June 8th.
At the meetings, which in accordance with the agenda was determined days ago, President Jahjaga and the CEC members discussed the technical aspects of the organisation of the general elections in the country, conditions and circumstances they are being held in, as well as the activities of the CEC during the periods before, during and after the elections. President Jahjaga and the CEC members emphasized that elections must be free, democratic, comprehensive and honest.
President Jahjaga stated that pre term general elections in the country are being held at the time when the tragedy at the Kosovo Energetic Corporation plant in Obiliq shook all the citizens of the country. She added that the pain is immense and that now the country needs to show solidarity with the families of those affected by this tragedy.
President Jahjaga added that Kosovo now needs strength to overcome the consequences of the tragedy, in the same way the citizens of Kosovo have known to find it in most difficult moments of the history of the country.
