President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, was received today in Vienna by the Speaker of the National Parliament of Austria, Ms. Barbara Prammer, who was accompanied by representatives of the groups represented at the National Parliament of Austria.
President Jahjaga expressed her gratitude for the continuous support that Republic of Austria has provided to Kosovo and for its engagements in support of the democratic processes that the country is going through. Madam President praised the bilateral relations between the two states as excellent and stated that they must be expanded further in all relevant fields.
President Jahjaga expressed the necessity for a greater cooperation between Parliaments of both our countries and for greater exchange of experiences of these two institutions, and emphasized that Austria with its experience can help Kosovo on its path of European integrations,
Speaker of the National Parliament of Austria, Ms. Barbara Prammer, after wishing a warm welcome to President Jahjaga, said that relations between two countries are excellent and offered the support of the Parliament of Austria to Kosovo.
Representatives of the parliamentary groups of the Austrian Parliament showed their interest on the issue of the agreement reached between the Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Austria, for the position of ethnic minorities in Kosovo, in particular the position of the Roma minority, as well as for the concrete parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, is currently on an official state visit to the Republic of Austria, upon an invitation by the President of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer.
In the meantime, on Tuesday evening, upon arrival in Vienna, Austria, President Jahjaga had a working dinner with former deputy envoy of the UN for the future status of Kosovo, Mr. Albert Rohan, with the European Parliament special Raporteur on Kosovo, Ms. Ulrike Lunacek, as well as with the Political Director at the Austrian Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mr. Jan Kikert.
