President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, was received today in Kuala Lumpur, by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mahid Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak. The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mrs. Mimoza Kusari-Lila was also in attendance.
President Jahjaga thanked Prime Minister of Malaysia for the recognition of Republic of Kosovo, immediately after the declaration of independence, and stated that its citizens now live in peace and prosperity.
She also said that Kosovo and Malaysia have good reciprocal relationship and emphasized the importance for the deepening of the cooperation in all fields, especially economy. President Jahjaga praised as important the necessity for promotion of closer cooperation between two countries through signing and implementation of agreements in various fields which promote and protect investments.
Madam President emphasized the fact that Kosovo in the five years post independence has consolidated its democracy, is building a state of law and is creating a favourable climate for investments, which guarantee a sustainable economic development.
Madam President also stated that economic development of the country is the primary priority and Kosovo is undertaking important steps in this direction. She said that important investments have been directed towards improvement of the infrastructure and legislation.
According to Madam President, Kosovo is a country with a favourable business climate for both local and international investors alike and offers equal investment oportunities to everyone.
President Jahjaga stated that Republic of Kosovo is demonstrating itself to be a promoter of good neighbourliness and of peace and stability in the whole of the region of western Balkans, and that its future lies within EU. President Jahjaga also said that Kosovo is undertaking the necessary reforms required towards implementation of standards and criteria required by the EU and for the wellbeing of its citizens.
Speaking in relation to the international consolidation of its statehood, President Jahjaga emphasized that Kosovo aims to build partnerships and cooperation, in particular with friendly countries, which have helped Kosovo through all the stages of state building, with Malaysia being one of such countries.
President Jahjaga emphasized that support for further recognitions by Malaysia is important, especially towards obtaining of Kosovo’s membership into international organisations, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and UN.
In relation the issue of dialogue with Republic of Serbia, mediated by EU and supported by USA, Madam President emphasized that the primary aim is the normalisation of relations between to sovereign and independent countries. She added that agreement reached in April this year must be implemented, as it paves the way towards cooperation and European perspective for both states, helping the establishment of peace and stability in the region and beyond.
President Jahjaga emphasized that in order to promote the bilateral relations between Kosovo and Malaysia, both countries must establish close diplomatic relations through opening of embassies in both countries.
President Jahjaga presented Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mahid Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak with an invitation to visit Kosovo in a near future, to gain a closer acquaintance with developments and progress of Kosovo.
Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mahid Najib bin Tun Abdual Razak, accepted the invitation to visit Kosovo made by Madam President with pleasure and said that his country is a supporter of Kosovo and processes which Kosovo is going through. Prime Minister of Malaysia emphasized the importance of expansion of cooperation between two countries and showed his interest for oportunities and capacities offered by Kosovo in the field of investments and economic cooperation. Prime Minister of Malaysia also showed his interest in various other issues in relation to developments in the region of western Balkans and Kosovo in particular.
