The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga received today a group of women deputies, led by the deputy Mrs. Alma Lama, who handed over to the President the proposed constitutional amendment for the inclusion of the woman in the quota of 40 per cent in the positions of ministers and deputy ministers of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga praised the initiative taken, which is based on Resolution no. 04-R-09, the Principles of Prishtina from the International Women’s Summit “Partnership for Change – Empowerment of Women”, held on 4-6 October 2012, in Prishtina, which foresees the participation of women in the civil service up to fifty percent, by 2050. She said that the present representation of women in the executive is low and considered necessary to guarantee the participation of women in decision making.
President Jahjaga expressed the support for initiatives which aim to ensure gender equality and women’s participation in every field of life.
The deputy, Mrs. Alma Lama informed President Jahjaga that this initiative has been supported by 57 members of the Assembly of Kosovo from all communities.
