President Jahjaga participated at the official opening of the “Women in the World” Summit in New York

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, attended the official opening of the proceedings of the Women Summit “Women in the World”, being held in New York, USA.

The summit is being attended by a large number of representatives of women organisations of the world and esteemed personalities from a around the globe, among whom are the former US State Secretary, Hilary Clinton, Former British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, the Executive Director of the Institute for Women, Peace and Security at Georgetown University, Ambassador Melanne Verveer, as well as representatives public and cultural life, such as actress Meryl Streep and journalist Thomas Friedman.

During the proceedings of the Summit, President Jahjaga had an approximately 30 minutes long meeting with the former US State Secretary Hillary Clinton, followed by meetings with the former British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and the IMF Director Christine Lagarde. Madam President also spoke to the US Ambassador Verveer on the topic of advancement of the role of women in society.

President Jahjaga will be attending on Friday the “Woman Peacemaker” panel, together with the US Ambassador Melanne Verveer.
