President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in Alpbach with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovakia, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak, with whom she discussed the European perspective of Kosovo and of the region, and the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia.
President Jahjaga highly praised Mr. Lajcak’s role in inclusion of Kosovo in regional and European initiatives and stated that Slovakia’s support for Kosovo’s European path is necessary.
President Jahjaga pointed out that Kosovo has made important steps in getting closer to EU and appreciated the initialing of the SAA which opens a new chapter in Kosovo-EU relations. She said that Kosovo must be included in the visa liberalisation process, as this will help the free movement of citizens of Kosovo, equivalently with the citizens of the other countries of the region.
President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo remains dedicated to the dialogue with the Republic of Serbia, through EU facilitation, and pointed out that agreements achieved so far at the dialogue process must be fully implemented, as this will help normalization of relation between the two countries and ease the lives of the citizens of both countries.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovakia, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak, emphasized the importance of the continuation of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia leading to the normalization of relations and helping in preservation of stability in the whole region. He said that the whole of the Balkan region has made advancements and that the European perspective is open.
