President Jahjaga met with King Abdullah of Jordan

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in London with King Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, under the auspices of the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum

President Jahjaga thanked King Abdullah for the help which Kingdom of Jordan has provided to Kosovo on various periods of its development and the support provided by this country to Kosovo even after its declaration of independence in 2008.

President Jahjaga praised as excellent the relations between the two countries and said that further expansion of the relations is needed in all fields, particularly in the field of economic development. She also added that Kosovo needs further backing through finding of opportunities for investments in energy, infrastructure and development of agriculture.

Speaking in relation to the processes which our country is going through, Madam President said that independence of Kosovo is by now a reality recognised by many countries of the world a d stated that the help from the Kingdom of Jordan in the consolidation process and recognition of the statehood of Kosovo, especially from the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference, would be of particular importance.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo and Jordan share the common values and as two countries which nurture inter religious tolerance, it is their common interest to address the extremist threats wherever and whenever they appear. She also said that this issue requires a common approach.

King Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, praised the relations of his country with Kosovo and emphasized that his state will continue to support Kosovo’s endeavours towards building of an all inclusive and a democratic country. He also added that Jordan will help Kosovo in organisation of an international all encompasing conference on inter religious tolerance.

King Abdullah of Jordan also said that Jordan will back Kosovo in its consolidation process throughout the world, especially among the Islamic countries.
