The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, handed over today the flag of Kosovo to the Kosovo Olympic Committee, before heading to the European Games, which are held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
President Jahjaga at a reception organized in her Office, met the athletes of Kosovo and the representatives of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, who for the first time represent the country at the international sport, and wished them success in the European Games in Baku.
The flag of Kosovo, President Jahjaga handed over to the well-known athlete Majlinda Kelmendi.
Among others, at the meeting with the athletes of Kosovo, President Jahjaga said:
“Majlinda, President and you members of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, allow me that on behalf of all the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, on behalf of all the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, to formally hand over the flag of the Republic of Kosovo which for the time first will wave in the framework of the First European Games which will be held, within the framework of many other flags in entire Europe and in the entire world. For our country, the new country of Kosovo there is no greater pride, there is no greater emotion than to have Kosovo as participant of the First European Games for the first time and with this first step, becoming also part of the international sports family.
This is thanks to the work of every one of you, thanks to the concrete results that athletes like Majlinda and many others have achieved. For us, firstly as citizens and as representatives of the institutions, there is no greater pride than this moment. You are the best ambassadors who represent our country through this activity and all the citizens of Kosovo
During the whole time when these games will be held with heart and soul we will be with you, we will be with your hard effort which you will launch in stadiums together with all that sweat you will pour. Firstly by representing yourselves and by giving all the best from yourself, but the greatest is, by representing the state of Kosovo.
In each way you will go like winners, but will return as even bigger winners”.
