President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, attended today the grand Republican March, organised in the French capital, Paris, in honour of the victims of the attack on Charlie Hebdo.
President Jahjaga as accompanied by the deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hashim Thaçi. Before the commencement of the march, President Jahjaga and Minister Thaçi were received at the Presidential Palace by the President of the Republic of France, Mr. Francois Hollande, to whom they expressed the condolences of the people of Kosovo for the victims of the terrorist acts in Paris few days ago.
The Republican March, in honour of the victims of the terrorist attack in Paris, was attended by hundreds of thousands of citizens. The March was also attended by the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, German Chancellor Ms. Angela Merkel, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mr. David Cameron, Prime Minister of Italy, Mr. Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, among many other leaders of the countries from around the world.
President Jahjaga emphasized that Paris March demonstrates the solidarity of the democratic world with the people of France, who have these days suffered grievous acts of barbarism upon them and attacks upon one of the most cherished values of the society, the freedom of speech and expression. President Jahjaga also said that attacks upon democratic values and freedom of our societies cannot stop us from our fight for a safer world.
