President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga and the Minister of State at the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and UK Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Prevention of Sexual Violence in Conflict, Baroness Joyce Anelay, visited today the Centre for Promotion of Women’s Rights in Drenas, part of which is the tailoring workshop, at which they got informed with the quality of products produced at this centre.
On this occasion, President Jahjaga offered her support to the centre Director Mrs. Kadire Tahiraj and to the members of this centre on their further economic empowerment and placement of the products made at this centre.
She stated that since the very first day of her mandate as President of the country she had as priority enlivening of gender equality, equal treatment of all citizens of Kosovo and particularly the encouragement of women in realization of their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga also added that women, same as men, played a very important role in all stages of history of Kosovo, during the period of peaceful resistance, during the war and post war period, the period of rebuilding of the country, establishment and strengthening of the institutions of the state and development of democracy.
