The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, was received today by the Commander of the peacekeeping force in Kosovo, KFOR, Major General Francesco Figliuolo, at the KFOR headquarters in Camp “Film City” in Prishtina.
President Jahjaga was received with high military honors by the KFOR honor guard and later she developed a separate conversation with General Figliuolo. The two interlocutors talked about the importance of the continuation of cooperation between the institutions of Kosovo and the peacekeeping forces, about the political actuality in Kosovo, including also the latest developments in the field of security and the socio-economic one. President Jahjaga was notified by General Figliuolo also about the current activities of the peacekeeping forces.
President Jahjaga stressed the important role of the KFOR forces in the preservation and guaranteeing of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the territory of Kosovo and in the establishment of links between the communities. She said that Kosovo has managed to build an inclusive and democratic society and is promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo is an emerging democracy, and it is building good neighborly relations in the region, including also the commitment in the process of the normalization of relations with Serbia. She said that Kosovo is committed in the dialogue and the implementation of the agreements reached in Brussels, which facilitate the lives of the citizens, soothe the relations between the two countries and approximate them with Euro-Atlantic integrations.
The KFOR Commander, General Francesco Figliuolo, while thanking President Jahjaga for the visit and the cooperation that the Kosovo institutions have with the peacekeeping forces, said that the process of stabilization is in a positive trajectory. He said that KFOR will be dedicated and vigilant until the implementation of the agreements is irreversible.
President Jahjaga and Figliuolo General stressed the importance of the continuation of the mutual cooperation in the future as well, given that the KFOR peacekeeping force is one of the most respected international institutions among the population of Kosovo.
