In the Kosovar and Macedonian media, yesterday and today, the news has been published that the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga on Friday afternoon has made a private visit to Macedonia and has met high officials of the DUI, with whom she allegedly has discussed about the current political issues.
About this issue the Department for Information of the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo clarifies:
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, on May 20, 2011, in the afternoon, made a private visit to the Republic of Macedonia, during which she stayed at a restaurant in Tetovo, and made a walk in this city.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, also visited the city of Skopje, where she also toured the city and stopped for a coffee at a café in the main square in Skopje.
En route there have been cases when people stopped, greeted and requested to take photos with the President, or her staff. Also, while in Tetovo and Skopje, citizens have approached to greet her, at the table where relatives, friends and staff of the President were seated.
The Department of Information explained that the visit was only private and the President has not had any official meeting, conversation or statement, as some media reported.
According to the protocol, public appearances of the President of the country, in her private capacity, are associated with safety regulations and protocol. Macedonian authorities were informed on time for the type of visit and all her itinerary, with all visits and appearances in public, and the precise time of each move. Everything is carried out according to plan, with no deviations.
The President of Kosovo, with a letter, thanked the Macedonian authorities for the help in organizing this visit and on the measures taken that the visit be implemented fully as planned, emphasizing good neighborly relations between the two countries and people, and totally normal visits of citizens and leaders between each other.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, returned Friday evening in Prishtina, where she had a working dinner at a reastaurant in the suburbs of the capital, with senior international officials.
