President Atifete Jahjaga received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today in a meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with whom she discussed about the integration processes of Kosovo and the entire region of the Western Balkans, about the necessity of the implementation of the reached agreements with the Republic of Serbia in the framework of the dialogue in Brussels, about the challenges of the establishment of the Special Court and the strengthening of the rule of law and order in Kosovo.

President Jahjaga, praising the relations with the Republic of Germany emphasized the importance of the support of the German government for the democratic processes in the country and especially for the European path of Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans. She said that Kosovo and the region have as sole alternative the EU integration and therefore stability, cooperation and neighborly relations will determine the dynamics of integration. President Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo and Serbia, in the framework of the dialogue on normalizing relations, have reached a number of agreements which require full implementation and said that Serbia’s European path must be conditioned on the fulfillment of the international obligations

President Jahjaga said that the institutions of the country are working on the economic recovery and the strengthening of the rule of law and order and have made continuous efforts to prevent illegal migration of the citizens of the country especially to Germany. She said that the institutions of the country are working in fulfilling the international obligations with the creation of the Special Court and informed Minister Steinmeier with all the steps up to now in this process.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier praised the achievements in Kosovo and the engagement of the institutions in the integration processes and in the field of order, which opens more opportunities for economic development. He said that Germany is following attentively all the developments in the Western Balkans and the commitment of the entire region to fulfill the criteria and standards for European integration. Minister Steinmeier assessed the importance of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and the implementation of the reached agreements in the framework of the dialogue, which leads to the normalization of relations between them. Minister Steinmeier also emphasized the importance of the fulfillment of the international obligation of Kosovo with the creation of the Special Court, which, as he said, requires a general consensus in society.
